Reviews of Leica CRF Rangemaster 1200 Rangefinder 7x Scan Mode

Reviews of Leica CRF Rangemaster 1200 Rangefinder 7x Scan Mode

best of all, tiny handy little piece of high technology. the fastest scan mode I've ever tested. faster than you need. red illumination always ready for dark situation (no need to switch to night mode in a hurry). done by expert for professionals !!! Tristan Z.

This is an expensive piece of equipment, but worth every penny! I replaced the older and larger LRF 800 with this unit. The optics are awesome and the unit is significantly smaller than the LRF series. I do wish that this unit would switch between yards and meters like the LRF did, but I just printed out a conversion chart and slid it into the carrying case - problem solved. This range finder is the envy of the range. Everyone wants to try it out.

I spent a lot of time on the forums and everyone said this is the range finder to have, it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I'm glad I did. It works exactly as advertised. It is very simple, there is only one button, push it once and a small red square reticle appears, push it again and it tells you how far away the object in the reticle is. Measuring distances of trees, houses, cars, or any large object up to 1200 yards is effortless. In ideal conditions I have got readings up to 1370 yards. Smaller or less reflective objects are a little harder to get a reading on, rolling dry grass hills are easy up to about 800 yards, humans are easy up to about 700 yards. I haven't seen any deer with this range finder ( I don't hunt anything but paper targets at long distance ) so I can't really say how far out you could range a deer. From what I understand deers fur is pretty non reflective, so I imagine it is probably 500-600 yards or so. The ability to find range through obstacles is phenomenal, you can look through a small opening in a tree and if the reticle fits through the opening you will get a reading. Bottom line - I cant image anyone being displeased with this range finder, it is fantastic.

Ranged another pine in winter at 1320yds. Very quick response but hit or miss depending on reflectivity and aim. Bright crisp display. Easy one handed use but you might need to brace on something solid. Repeated rangings give slightly different values so not as accurate as the Swarovski but the funtionality is superior.

Part of what makes the Leupold RX Series the first smart rangefinder for hunters is True Ballistic Range. Leupold RX Range-Finders are the only range finders to provide accurate aiming information, matched to the performance of your rifle or bow. By calculating the incline, the line of sight range to the target, and a rifle's or bow's ballistics, your Leupold RX Rangefinder provides bow hunters and rifle hunters using Leupold BAS reticles the correct equivalent horizontal distance for precise shooting on an incline. In other words, you'd aim using the True Ballistic Range, not the straight line distance. Rifle hunters can also get this range as an MOA adjustment or a holdover point. With practice, long distance/steep angle shooting will become incredibly natural.
